Cranberry Turkey Brine

A sweet and tangy brine infused with cranberries and citrus for a festive turkey.

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon water
  • 1 cup kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 oranges sliced
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  • In a large pot, combine water, kosher salt, and brown sugar. Heat over medium heat until dissolved.
  • Add cranberries, orange slices, dried thyme, black peppercorns, and bay leaves. Stir well.
  • Let the brine cool completely.
  • Submerge the turkey in the brine and refrigerate for 12-24 hours.
  • Rinse turkey thoroughly before cooking.
